What I like about the phrase, intentional or not, is that it could apply to a woman. Of course the character's a man, but that dancing fire, odd and ambiguous, describes a sensation we all know. Mr. Sarvas, I imagine your wife would feel proud.

Might make a nice blurb for future printings of the book: 'a real dancing St. Elmo’s fire of a read'

Ed, I experienced one of your 'What the fuck' moments recently reading Neil Smith's Bang Crunch. The book is filled with quirky flights of metaphor... but this one, describing an orgasm as feeling 'like a hundred glimmering goldfish expelled through the hole in an aquarium' was, as you put it, most memorable. Perhaps there's a contest here somewhere?
