Caveat: It's worth noting that "John" works for a major animation studio. His opinion, therefore, may be perhaps a tad biased.

I saw this at a preview screening. This is by far the funniest comedy of the year. There were kids in the theatre and it was non-stop laughs from them. I can't recommends this film enough, definitely seeing it again this weekend.

I hate when needless plot lines are tacked on to fanciful children's books for film adaptations-there is no scientist character in the original picture book(which is told as a charming, long ago type of tale)with daddy issues and why there needs to be one here is beyond me.

As much as I enjoy the extra whimsy in Tim Burton's remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, that "Daddy wasn't there" deal was stuffed into the plot as well. Why can't these filmmakers leave the "Cat's in the cradle" riffs on their psychiatrist's couch and keep it out of movies that don't require it for any artistic or entertainment purposes?
