Kudos for nominating Crazy Love by Leslie What. She is a writer who deserves much wider attention, and whose work rewards readers with intelligence and wit.

A lovely list and an embarrassment to have only read one of the ten books. I still have a couple of weeks before the year ends, so there's still time. Thank you. For the nod and the list both.

Good choices. Human Smoke was the best book I read all year, fiction or non. I would have also added Coetzee's Diary of a Bad Year for it's sheer detonation of form. It is the best multi-tiered novel I have read since Cambodia: A book for people who find television too slow by Brian Fawcett. And thanks for mentioning that Ferris' book is overrated, because I read 60 pages before closing it.
