Quirky Formats: Another Casualty as Newspaper Subscriptions Dwindle

The Chicago Reader, which, for years, has had one of the quirkiest and most endearing alternative newspaper formats in the nation, is saying goodbye to its four section layout. The reasons? Publishing costs and competition from Time Out Chicago.

Dude, the big family news of this last quarter was my bro-bot Russ (and many of his co-wrkers) got scaled back (but not fired) in the ranks of the Chicago Tribune. This, after a KICK-ASS series on his son going into the marines. Dailies need to severely up their paradigm.

Whatever that means. The real money these days is in reality TV. How oxymoronic is THAT?
