Hmmm. Too bad. After reading the NYT article where King talks about his newfound interest in making good sentences, I was looking forward to this one.
Edward, I totally disagree with your reading of Lisey’s Story. It’s fantastic. There is a slower pace, and it’s not the King creepy factor, but he’s not writing Carrie, he’s writing Lisey’s Story, which is a much more literary novel.
Here’s what I thought of the novel: advance review on SoMisguided.com
“Much more literary” = inept attempt to write “important” novel. I should point out that I really wanted to like this book, just as I have liked a number of other King’s books. But this novel’s effort at a “slower pace” resulted in a plot about as swift and exciting as watching paint dry. Give me the creepy factor any day over this introspective nonsense.
